certified
teacher in 1986
He
taught elementary grades Schools in Poitiers and Paris
before
moving to Chicago in 1991.
>
He
then worked at Lincoln Elementary School in the French
Section. In 1994, he initiated an out- of-school program where all the 5th
graders would join the Native French speakers from the French section
at Camp
Ronora one week during the school year. In
this immersion
session, the beginners (5th
graders) would
team up with the K to 5 native speakers to learn basic French through
various
hands-on activities. In the mean time, French speakers, while proudly
displaying their knowledge had to have a reflection on their own
language like
never before and were constantly stimulated by the educators to improve
it.
