French at Camp provide a staff selected on the basis of experience and motivation, as well as skills in supervision, leadership, and positive role-modeling.

Our program specialists in Music, Cooking, Creative Arts, Nature, Computer science, Arts and Crafts, Athletics and Waterfront Activities enrich our camp program as they share their knowledge and enthusiasm with French-at-Campers.

In maturity, professional standing, sincerity of purpose, length of service and genuine interest in young people, French at Camp’s staff is of high quality and all counselors are native speakers.

Fabrice Raud

Fabrice Raud, a father of two perfectly bilingual children,  was born in France where he became a certified teacher in 1986 He taught elementary grades Schools in Poitiers and Paris   before moving to Chicago in 1991. > He then worked at Lincoln Elementary School in the French Section. In 1994, he initiated an out- of-school program where all the 5th graders would join the Native French speakers from the French section at Camp Ronora one week during the school year.  In this immersion session, the beginners (5th graders) would team up with the K to 5 native speakers to learn basic French through various hands-on activities. In the mean time, French speakers, while proudly displaying their knowledge had to have a reflection on their own language like never before and were constantly stimulated by the educators to improve it.
This program still exists at Lincoln School.
Fabrice has been working at the Lycée Français de Chicago since 2000 as the Head of the Information Technology Department. This position has helped him focus on different aspect of learning in a computer environment. He now combines his strengths by organizing FrenchatCamp for the sake of your child.

Christèle Merle
Though she will not be attending the camp this year, Christele has brought her rich experience in planning the camp. Christèle was born in Tours, in the Loire Valley region, known as the Garden of France.
She taught elementary grades in the area of Chartres for 5 years, before moving to Chicago in 1994. She then worked at Lincoln Elementary School in the French Section with Fabrice Raud, teaching 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students and participating in the immersion session at Camp Ronora. Christèle has taught 5th grade at the Lycée Français de Chicago for five years. When in France, Christèle worked for 10 years in after school programs, day camps and overnight camps, 5 years as a councelor and 5 years as a manager.
Her strenghs are her experience in out of school programs and her sense of organisation that will profit your child at FrenchatCamp.

Marie-Noelle Marechal

Mother of 3 bilingual and bicultural young adults. Her years as a home-schooled Mom have reinforced her creativity and love of learning and teaching.
She is now tutoring French privately.

Anne Seigenthaler


Anne Seigenthaler, mother of three daughters at the Lycée Français of Chicago, is teaching  visual arts at the elementary school from first to fourth grade.
She has worked with children for over 20 years in many different activities, 9 years as a scout leader and 1 year as a camp director After moving to U.S.A., did several years in home day care, and was a substitute teacher at the Lycée Français.She will love to spend time making art with children...in french at the camp!
Anne is CPR certified

Pascale Bourdin has been working at the Lycee Français for ten years. She has a long experience dealing with bilingual children as an educator and as a mom. She has also participated in the developement of educational material for French as a second Language.
